Thomas Walsh
Thomas specialises in international arbitration and litigation and is based in Clifford Chance's Hong Kong office where he is a core member of the Greater China practice. He also regularly works out of Clifford Chance's Seoul office as he is the Chief Representative of the office and head of the firm's Korean disputes practice.
Thomas has a broad range of experience in relation to Asian based disputes having lived and worked in Asia since 2010. However, he has particular experience of the energy and construction sectors. He regularly acts as an arbitrator and has served as both a sole arbitrator and as part of a panel. He is admitted in England & Wales, Hong Kong and as a Foreign Legal Consultant in South Korea.
Chambers Global (2016) recognises him him as having "substantial capabilities in construction disputes". Chambers & Partners Pacific (2016) ranks him as an 'Up and Coming' lawyer and an 'Outstanding Younger Partner' (across Asia Pacific generally). Legal 500 (2017) ranks him as a 'Leading Individual' and describes him as "excellent" and a "very capable and effective communicator". Who's Who Arbitration Future Leaders (2017) notes that he is "exceptional... instrumental from the beginning of the practice of arbitration in the country and very experienced at handling clients".
Thomas is a Fellow of the International Dispute Resolution Academy (IDRA), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and Vice-Chair of CIArb's Korea Chapter. He is appointed to the KCAB's Council for International Arbitration and on LCIA and KCAB's list of arbitrators.
